I am ordering an S6240 or S2110 in the next couple of days.
What I know about the two are:
S6240 has better battery life, maybe quieter fan.
S2110 has better video chip, maybe better CPU, and is less money.
Is there anything else that I am missing, any other reasons to get one over the other?

Also, what advantages of ordering from Portable One over direct from Fujitsu?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

hmm i dont think the S2110 is that much worse in the battery life? I personally would go for the S2110 simply because it's cheaper, has a better integrated card, and has a black keyboard. The light grey ones make dirty and oil more noticeable

The S6240's I saw at FRY's had black keyboards also.

Personally, I'd go for the S2110. The price to performance ratio is higher on that machine... you definitely get more bang for the buck.

Buy from Portableone because you can't beat their customer service! Speaking from personal experience, there are a few considerations- if you have a problem, they'll go to bat for you with Fujitsu and save you a lot of hassle. Secondly, while Fujitsu's tech support is very easy to reach, they tend to go by the book and don't really "listen" to the problem. Their first cry is the typical reformat/reinstall and then are quick to change parts without troubleshooting. Portableone will provide real troubleshooting tech support.

Pricing at Portableone tends to be a little better as well, but their customer service is, at least for me, the overriding factor.

If you are purchasing the 3 year extended waranty, consider purchasing the next day option from Fujitsu for an extra $149- well worth it, IMHO. Not only do you get next day service (or at least a couple of days) but you get a different level of tech support which, if you have any problems, will make a big difference.

    Andrew,

I do believe the s2110 actually has better battery life than the S6240.
    (4+ hrs vs 3.4 hrs)
Because of the 64 bit capabilities, I would probably lean towards the s2110.

It is 1/2 hour more life for the S6240 according to Fujitsu's website and spec sheets. Also, some past threads have claimed that the S2110 had more fan noise.

I LIKE IT! Sarcasm isn't the only thing, it is everything! <grin>
The question will be, when 64 bit OS's are final, what will the chances be that Fujitsu will be creating drivers for their old notebooks?

    Andrew,

You are correct about the listed battery life. Although, I know when I first reviewed the S2110, Fujitsu listed the S6240 as having 3.4 hrs, did something change with S624o that I'm not aware about???!!!

Edit to my post: Andrew, now I know where I got that 3.4 hrs battery life...if you go to portableone.com and look at the PDF brochure, Fujitsu does list the battery life at under 4 hours for the s6240. Again, curious as to what may have changed!!!
