Fujitsu Lifebook S6510
14.1 WXGA
2.2ghz Core 2 Duo
2 gig RAM
120 gb HD
BT
DVD-RW
Screen: The screen is super bright and sharp. I enjoy the vibrant colors. It makes my Thinkpad T61 14.1 SXGA+ screen look dull and old. I find myself keeping the brightness level at 3 notches out of 8 for most situations like going to class, library or dorm room.
Keyboard: I'm not a fan of the white color. But the responsiveness of the keyboard is nice. Its not as clicky as my T61. No flex but I still like my T61 keyboard better it just feels more comfortable.
Touchpad: Good size, accurate, nice texture. The right and left click buttons are stiffer to press.
Palmrest: conformtable, stay relatively cool. The only warm portion is track pad area.
Build quality: Super solid no creeks. Everything feels as if it fit into place perfectly.
Sound: The computer is relatively quiet. Right now I only hear the HD running. The fan seems to rarely come on at all.
Heat: Overall the laptop stays relatively cool. The warmest points are the trackpad area and the exhaust of course.
Size/weight: I love having a 14.1in screen a 13.3 body. The computer is so light when I lift in one hand. Almost as if it was toy like.
Software: Came with both XP and Vista restore disk along with software to burn DVD, operate webcam etc.
Battery life: Getting like 4 hrs running Word and surfing the net at level 4 brightness
Honestly if the screen was matte, entire laptop black esp keyboard and palmrest, and have a thinkpad keyboard I would prolly would enjoy this computer more which is why I still have my trusty thinkpad around.
If you want a solid, light weight, good screen

Awesome mini review! I need this notebook. What do you think of the horizontal and vertical viewing angles on it? Are the speakers acceptably loud?
-
Speakers are notebook loud nothing to really get excited about. Its actually nice to have the speakers on top of the notebook for a change as my T61 had them on the bottom. The vertical viewing angles are good as the colors didn't really watch out a few of my classmates stood around me to watch a video clip and they said it looked good. The horizontal viewing angle is ok as depending on how you tilt it the colors can wash out pretty quick. I forgot to mention that since the screen is glossy it does cause reflection however compared to my classmates M1330 that screen is way glossier then the S6510 this is also the same with my friends Toshiba 13.3 U305 ( I think thats the model but I may be wrong)
If your past Fujitsu user I'm sure you'll enjoy this computer as I see and feel the good quality of this notebook. However, I'm unsure of the reliability as this is my first fujitsu. Hopefully this computer will last atleast 3 yrs as thats usually the time I look for an upgrade.
Newegg had some good prices as one of my classmates mentioned they are gonna get this notebook also. So if you do decided to buy and only need a pre config model you should check it out then. -
Thanks for the tip. I was going to buy from Newegg, but the model I wanted is out of stock now. It is over $150 more anywhere else too. Hopefully they'll have it in stock again soon.
Edit: I've read that Fujitsu notebooks are very reliable and their support is excellent. The fact that they build the notebooks in Japan probably contributes to their reliability. -

Thanks, stringbeans85.
Given that you are a Thinkpad owner, your review was very much appreciated.
