    Hi everyone,

My current laptop is dead and so it's time to get a new one. I've been recommanded to get Fujistu s6520. I read the specs and this looks like a brill machine. However, I'm having one concern and it'd be nice if you guys can shed some light on it.

My last two laptops were both fujitsu and they're been quite good. Nonetheless, the last Fujistu (s6240) had a fan problem. The air vent had always been quite hot, and the fan also became louder gradually. I replaced the fan two times before its death.

Seeing that s6520 looks like s6240 appearance wise, I am weary that s6520 might have the same cooling problems. I wonder if there's any s6520 owner has this kind of cooling/fan problem?

Also, is s6520 in general a good machine? I'm looking for duribility and I hope this laptop has what it takes to last relatively long.

    Thanks :D

I have used my 6520 daily for over one year (see my review on this forum). Never had any problem with the fan or any heat problem. This model runs cool and the fan isn't on all the time - fan seems to run only when running very processor intense applications.
Durability, fit and finish is first rate. I believe the only reason I would replace the unit is to get newer processor which inevitably becomes available.

    Hope this helps.

The exhaust can get warm, sure, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've had no problems with internal temps.

I'd have no reservations w/ recommending it to others. The only thing I'd do differently, perhaps, is skip the discrete video card. It's fine, but probably not worth the added cost in my experience.
