Has anyone tried or seen the none CV screens on the S7000, how are they in general? Do they have that 1 inch light leakage on the bottom like the CV S7000? (this seems to be a problem with the model and not just linked to a few units).
I am trying to make a decission between the S7020 with SXGA+ screen and the IBM T43 also with a 14" SXGA+. They both cost about the same (for my configuration), and while I think the IBM has the better build quality and keyboard, I am missing the not dealing with portable one part!

You know, I've never seen one. They always take their CV models to trade shows.

I guess I am gonna have to give P1 a call and see what they have to say.

I have the s7020d sxga+. There is quite a bit of leakage. Watching wide screen movies with the dark strip at the bottom is quite bad.
I actually tried returning to portable one for this reason, but they never replied to my email. I realized it's not worth the trouble, so i've learned to live with it.
If I could do it again, I'd take the IBM in a heartbeat. -
I got the same leakage on the S7020 with CV, so that doesn't only pertain to the SXGA model.
To be honest I am kind of disapointed with the Fujitsu screen. It gets hyped so much, but I don't find it any better than a Dell screen. I have an old Sony (GR300) and an Acer Ferrari 4005. Both non CV, and both screens have much less leakage and give me less eye strain.
Edit: Yes I did play around with the brightness settings to reduce eye strain, but I can't find a setting that looks good to me. -
I actually gave up the idea of getting the S7020. I am going with the IBM T43. It is almost the same price, and well it is IBM quality!
The S7000 line is really weird. I don't get why they never fixed the issue with the screen. I have used the N6000 and the N3000 and both had amazing screens, way better than dell's lifeview, and in my opinion better than sony's ... but the qusmio I have to admit looks a bit sharper, but too bright.
I use my laptop sometimes for 6-8 hours none stop and I have never felt strained from it. In fact I find it easier on the eye than my ex-sony vaio and a high end CRT sony trinitron screen that I had.
I would have loved to go with Fujitsu again but unfortunately they don't deliver in the thin and light with high res screens market... actually the options are so limited in this sector: IBM T series, Dell latitude D5/600 and that one is a toaster, and the new sony BX and from what I heard that runs hot too!
