I really like the S7011, the weight, sleek looks, specs etc....the only thing that's holding me back from buying this model is the screen. I dont know if I can get use to the reflective screen or not.

Is there a way I can make the screen less reflective or better still not reflective at all? Maybe there's some after market anti-reflective coating/film that can be used. And to those who have used laptops with reflective screens, how do you find them? They seem a bit distracting to me...

I've seen this on a lot of the newer laptops models. Many of them sport a better, brighter, cleaner image but, will almost be un-viewable due to reflections in a brightly lit room or outdoors.

My eyes kept having to focus on either the reflections or what's on screen.

I'm for the matte screens But, I'm old school.

With laptops it's mostly: What you buy is what you get. If your not happy about it now...you'll hate it later.

3M makes screen covers though, I belive....

this is a valid concern. Personally I like the glossy yet brighter screens, but the reflectivity certainly is an issue in bright light situations...it could well be a disaster in a TV studio as all you'd be able to see are lights reflecting off of the screen! However, in normal situations and especially in darkened rooms, the extra bright screens are a godsend and gorgeous for viewing + makes life easy on the eyes. If you can focus on what's on the screen and not what's reflecting, the whole reflection thing becomes a non-issue...you sort of have to train the mind/eye to focus and ignore reflections though.

I don't know of any particular product designed to reduce the glare of a screen, but any such thing would have the negative side effect of reducing the brightness, so it'd be a trade off as well.
