    Hello,

I am interested in the S7020 laptop and had a few remaining questions:

    1. I know that the Atheros wireless card is more popular than the Intel, but is there really a big difference in the performance? I admit, I don't know much about computers, but I heard that the new Intel cards have improved greatly, and well, I thought that it would be nice to have everything inside the notebook be Intel? *shrugs*

    2. I read about the Fujitsu screens (had no idea they were so good) but I thought that the SXGA screens were the better way to go. Would you recommend the CV screen or the SXGA screen? I do a lot of word processing, so I heard that the higher resolution is better, but if I work in brighter sightings, is the glossy screen on the CV a disadvantange?

    THANKS!!

    1. I believe the Atheros card is better from personal experience. All other comments I have seen say that as well. Personally, I don't think having the complete Centrino label isn't all that important - if you want better reception, go with Atheros.

    2. I love my CV screen, and I don't think the glare is really that bad, but I usually don't have bright windows behind me. Personally, I like XGA resolution because I don't like having very small text and icons, but some people find the screen real estate worth it. I would recommend finding someone (or going to a store) with a 14 inch SXGA notebook and seeing how you like the resolution on it. If you feel you would rather have the extra pixels, go with SXGA, though I think the CV screen is the best I've ever seen. You don't want to get SXGA and then have to lower the resolution once you get it - you should always run at the native resolution, so make sure you want SXGA before you purchase.

    Perfect!

You answered all the questions I had in my head. :) Thanks.
I think I will go for the CV screen since Fujitsu seems to be so reknowned for their screens (I really had no idea they were so good), so it seems like a good buy to go for that one instead. :)

Word of warning: I seem to recall several folks posting about the screens on the S7000 series having problems with light leakage at the bottom of the screen and uneven lighting. You might want to look into that before you click 'buy'.

Okay, it was only two people on this thread, but I thought I had heard this before. Just something to make sure you look into to avoid disappointment.

Yup as noah said. that seems to be a common issue with the s7000, that's what kept me away from it and ordered a T43 instead.

If you check some of the reviews on this site, I recall seeing a picture where the leakage is evident. Check that out to see if your ok with it. Some people seem to not mind that, I just decided not to take the risk of disliking it (I have no way to see it before I order) and went with the T43.

Edit: oh well noah's link is to my thread :p
