I plan to purchase a S7020D from Portable One as their price is better plus they do ship to Canada. However, I still have some concern..
1. The upgrade they offer such as finger print sensor, bluetooth, HD and RAM, are they done by Fujitsu or Portable One? My guess to it is by Fujitsu, however, if it is, does Fujitsu perform the upgrade on a brand new standard machine or Fujitsu has all combination of pre-configured ones ready?
2. Does any of you who owns a S7020D have any dead pixel on the screen? If it has any, is that possible that i ask Fujitsu for a replacement as I really can't stand any at all?
3. Ebay sells the S7020D generic battery so much cheaper, are they actually as good as the Fujitsu's original one?

1. some of the upgrades ship pre configured directly from fujitsu to P1. Some upgrades are done by P1, but by a fujitsu certified person, so no need to worry.
2. If you buy from P1, you can ask them to check the screen for any dead pixels before they ship, so to avoid having to go thru a return! ... and if they miss any you can always return it to them for a replacement ... that happened to me -
2. I have checked my S7020D and there is no dead pixel on it.
3. no answer for this question. -
1. I think it is done by Fujitsu, because my impression is that Portable One would have had it shipped directly to me if I didn't request they inspect the screen first, and I ordered 768 RAM and the 80 GB HD. Bluetooth is def. a Fujitsu installed option.
2. I asked them to check the screen, and it came to me perfect- dead pixel(s) would drive me nuts too!
3. I bought the Fujitsu battery. Sometimes the 3rd party batteries can be a problem, and if they leak- well, it wasn't worth it to me to chance it on a $2000 unit. I think with generics it is a matter of luck. I have used them for my digital camera- and one was great, another shorted very quickly, bought at the same time from the same vendor. -
So if i want my S7020D with 1.73Ghz, 512MB, 60G, DVDRW, BT and Finger Print Sensor, it should all be done by Fujitsu not P1, correct?
Deadpixel-wise, i'm so concerned that if i request screen check from P1, they will give me a return unit or whatsoever since the unit will all open up before i receive it. Any good advise? Should i take the chance?
My new question now is if deadpixel is found on a new unit, P1 will get me a new one with no deadpixel or they will simply replace the screen? In either case, i wonder what they will do with deadpixeled screen? -
The answer to your first question is still it depends. If Fujitsu have a packaged unit with such specs then that's what you will get, otherwise some of the upgrades will be done by P1.
you will never get a used laptop. All sold laptops are brand new, even if P1 opens them. Returned units will be returned to fujitsu and sold as refurbs. P1 will give you a new unit if they find that the one they have for you has a dead pixel. But anyway, even if they exchange the screen its no big deal. I had the screen on mine exchanged because the one I got was the last unit they had, and trust me, there is no way you can tell the screen was exchanged even if you inspect it for hours!
