Has anybody ordered an S7020 on or after 6/21 and received their laptop already?

I have ordered mine on 6/21 and it is still not delivered. After waiting 10 business days, I called P1 on 7/6. First, they couldn't find my order in their system (Victor told me their system was down). Then he called me back and told me there were some parts delay at Fujitsu and my order would take another 4-5 days to fulfill.

Even though I gave P1 the benefit of doubt, I have this uneasy feeling that, for some reason, my order had never made it to Fujitsu.

it took me around 2-3 weeks when I ordered the E8020D from P1.. much of the lag was due to Fujitsu's side rather than P1 themselves, particularly since it was a new model, and I ordered it around golden week.

I had originally ordered a s7010d but changed the order when i found out the s7020d was coming out. P1 told me an order for the s7020d was placed on 6/27/05. I havent gotten the notebook yet. The delay could be due to the fact my order was an exchange and not a straight order.

I had ordered my S7020D on 6/27/05. P1 told me S7020D was shipped out today. It is one day earlier than Ivan told me. So I should receive it next week.

Thanks for your replies. rexyu38, your reply made me believe that P1 has messed up my order. You ordered 6 days after I did and yours is shipped today. No news on mine yet.

It sometimes depends on configurations. They might just not yet have the configuration that you want. You're better of trying to call or email them!

When I ordered they shipped only 5 hrs later because they had what I asked for in stock, so usually the delays happen in the process of them getting the unit!

I receive my S7020D today. The reason I receive it so late I think is that I live in Canada.

If it takes them so long just to ship it, why does the website say it'll take 5-10 business days TO RECEIVE? I was hoping to have my laptop in time for a trip to Canada that I'm leaving for 9 business days after placing the order, but now, I guess it's just not gonna happen! If they don't expect to have it go out so soon, then why put it on their website? Are they trying to disappoint people, or what?

Also, what's the deal with their email? I tried to email Victor since he never sent me a copy of the sales order that he promised, but he never wrote back. Before that when he asked me to email him something else, he didn't see it until I called because of their spamblock. I work late, so by the time I'm done, they're done too - most of the time - so I haven't been able to call see what's the deal. All I know is, my card was charged :fingers crossed: and who knows about the rest. Arrg now I'm worried!!

I wouldn't hold P1 accountable for things outside of their control like shipping missorts, missends, and Dept of Agriculture holds on items you don't eat. When P1 got my 6231 they modded, tested and shipped it the same day. Try getting that from newegg. I recently had a spamblock problem myself. I setup a marketing sms account at ipipi.com and the ipipi reps weren't getting any of my email from my yahoo account. Finally I emailed them from my google account and they got it. I tried like heck to get them to remove my yahoo address from their spamblocker, but they claimed they weren't blocking my address. Weird.

Thanks to Goren's excellent review of the E8020D, I ordered one from P1 on June 17th and it arrived on July 6th which I thought was reasonable especially after it toured the country - Alaska, Kentucky, California -was inspected at P1 and then of course there was the holiday. Ivan and Victor bent over backwards to expedite the order with Fujitsu when it looked like it was going to be delayed so I have nothing but good things to say about their service. I was wondering about ordering the 7020 but Victor told me that new releases can experience delays and I needed a new business computer asap. I'm very happy with my new purchase and with the service I got from P1.

Ok, I take back some of the bad things I said about P1 because it shipped yesterday, a week after I ordered it. But I've someone else to be angry at now, UPS! Their tracking thing is not in chronological order and makes little sense. Here's what it says:

    Jul 15, 2005

    10:35 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    DEPARTURE SCAN

    9:57 P.M.
    JP
    BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

    4:24 P.M.
    LOUISVILLE, KY, US
PACKAGE WAS DELAYED BY A FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD.;BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

    4:00 P.M.
    ANCHORAGE, AK, US
    DEPARTURE SCAN

    3:46 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    EXPORT SCAN

    3:45 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    ORIGIN SCAN

    2:55 P.M.
    LOUISVILLE, KY, US
PACKAGE WAS DELAYED BY A FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD.

Even if you put it in chronological order yourself, it makes no sense. It left Japan AFTER being held by the FDA in KY? huh? I think it's been released to the clearing agency because that appeared since the last time I checked. I'm confused. But I'm impressed that it got from Japan to Kentucky in less than a day. & why does the FDA think I'm gonna eat the laptop? That's what I want to know. Sigh... I gotta get this thing, there's now not 2, but 3 people using my 5+ yr old desktop, and I'm one of them, ahh!

Malia - I was very amused by the UPS tracking order, also, not to mention the role of the FDA. According to UPS anything that a consumer touches is subject to FDA clearance - it doesn't have to be edible - go figure! Just think how happy you're going to be when it arrives.

hey that happened to me too! it went to Alaska, then Kentucky.. then to california, then to Hawaii.. why does it go all the way to Alaska and Kentucky? is there some kind of tax or fees they can avoid by flying there?

Think "different time zones" and it all starts to make more sense. For example, Japan is on the other side of the international date line making the time there "tomorrow". FedEx's system is all based on hubs. I actually think it is possible to send something next door by FedEx overnight and have it go through their hub in Tennessee before coming back . . . Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts . . .

But if the diff. times are due to time zones, how come it lists Japan, then KY, then Alaska, then Japan again, and then again KY? It's UPS by the way, not FedEx. Who knows. All I know is, over the day today, it's travelled from KY to PA, and is now 4 hrs away from me (by bus). Who knows what the hell it's doing there, but it's getting closer!! I don't think it's venturing back west. I'm excited =)

It lists them in what it thinks is reverse-chronological order. However, it really isn't in real-time chronological order due to the time differences. In forward order, it goes like this:

    3:45 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    ORIGIN SCAN

    3:46 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    EXPORT SCAN

    9:57 P.M.
    JP
    BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

    10:35 P.M.
    OSAKA, JP
    DEPARTURE SCAN

Now it flies across the Pacific. If you take into account the time difference between Japan and Alaska (Alaska is 18 hours behind and the flight would only be about 12-13 hours or so, give or take), it is no surprise that it arrived "before" it left. I would also guess that the package never actually went through Kentucky (the time difference between Anchorage and Louisville is only 4 hours and in the wrong direction). Note there is not a departure scan listed from Louisville. More likely, this is where the computer registers all agricultural scans originating from and it was actually held in Anchorage pending the release in the system.

Next step would be it arriving in Anchorage, then would come the agricultural check, logged in KY

    2:55 P.M.
    LOUISVILLE, KY, US
PACKAGE WAS DELAYED BY A FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD.

(makes sense because, figuring in the 4 hour time difference here would make it 10:55 Alaska time, which fits with the arrival window from Japan)

Now it clears the inspection (or gets a waiver remotely)

    4:24 P.M.
    LOUISVILLE, KY, US
PACKAGE WAS DELAYED BY A FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD.;BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

(again, this would be 12:24 Alaska time)

Finally, it flies out of Anchorage after another four hours:

    4:00 P.M.
    ANCHORAGE, AK, US
    DEPARTURE SCAN

See, makes perfect sense! I had the same reaction when I ordered my S6231 but managed to rationalize it in a similar fashion . . .

And oh, UPS and FedEx both use hub systems so it still makes sense. If P1 didn't have to modify your machine over and above the standard Fujitsu configuration, it is very possible they had it dropped shipped direct to you. Good luck!
