Recently I purchased S7110 with full load of stuffs: modular bay battery, modular bay hard disk and DVD-RW drive. Everything runs supper! I even installed Kubuntu dual boot with Vista. However, to my surprise, modular bay battery wouldn't charge unless I remove the main battery! This is really annoying "feature". I don't understand what is the logic here. Power supply can't support two batteries charging at same time? Hum.![]()

Ive heard that some fujitsu laptops charge batteries in turn - i.e. first it will charge the main battery, and only after its full it will start charging the bay one. Maybe yours is like that too?

I think Chatte is correct. The notebook first charges the main battery, and then the secondary battery.
You might want to check that out first.
Good luck. -
Ya, I just confirmed that. It charges in turn. Not that bad. I love this laptop.

if you have the time, you can make a few bucks writing a review.

I have one of these from work and I'm loving it too!! I have the SXGA+ screen, and it seems like the perfect compromise between size and screen space. In fact, it's made me sort of bummed out that everyone is going widescreen WXGA+ on 14" displays now instead of SXGA+.
My only complaints are that it gets a little toasty, and that I miss-hit the pgup, pgdown, and del keys sometimes because of their size and location. Other than that, it's really a great laptop for shuttling back and forth to work.
I would do a review, but I don't have a camera available. -

Nice to hear your experiences, that is more then enough.
That notebook looks very stylish too, I like that.
-
Yes, it's a got a nice subtle style to it. Small, black exterior, silver interior with some black trim and a nice looking white/grey keyboard. Not going to immediately stand out from a pack, but enough that I catch myself staring at it every now and then, lol.

Hi, I had decided to get the e8210 (because of the widescreen) instead of the s7110. The e8210 on the left half runs very hot after about 3 hours and I'm worried about longer spells. Someone said it's only the left corner, but mine was the entire left side. I may be able to exchange it. The tech said that the s7110 is the same. So, when you say "toasty" -- do you mean hot?

Lela, I don't think you will have any problem with the top (keyboard-side) surface of this notebook.
Here's a more detailed message I sent, in case anyone else is wondering the same thing:
The bottom gets a bit warm, so when you are using it on your lap for an extended period of time, it's like being under a really small electric blanket, if that makes sense. Basically, it will emanate heat from the bottom, to the extent that you will definitely notice it over time, but it is not so hot that it will become immediately uncomfortable. For what it's worth, I will use it either on my chest in bed or on my lap outdoors and am not really bothered by it. I think it's similar to most laptops in this regard.
It does have a little "blowhole" vent on the left side that emits hot air, so if you are left handed and use a mouse, I could see this being really unpleasant. When it's running on battery, I've noticed that the fan tends to fire up periodically and then turn off shortly thereafter, which is noticeable in a quiet room like a bedroom. I'm somewhat tempted to see if there's a program to give it a more gradual fan increase, but I haven't looked into it yet, and it's really not that big a deal.
There is no heat coming from anywhere other than the bottom or that vent, that I've noticed at least, so if you are using it on a surface you won't notice any heat. As opposed to some laptops that have really warm palm rests, for example.
Hope this helps! -
May I ask if this laptop can be run with just the bay battery, but without the main battery , that is the main battery is taken out.
I ask this cos main battery is heavier than bay battery for one of the tablet I going to buy T4220. -
I would like to know too if the weight saver is included in this laptop. And what about the bay battery, is included too?
Thanks in advance -
It runs on either batteries or both. Pretty flexible. You can actually swap battery without losing power in standby mode. Haven't tried swap in power on mode which I should not do that I think.
It comes with weight saver but not bay battery. You order separately.
I ordered bay battery and bay hard disk adapter. Now I got bay DVD writer, bay battery and bay hard disk. I really enjoy its flexibility. That's the primary reason I bought S7110: Light, flexible, stylish business laptop and friendly with Linux. I installed Ubuntu, dual boot with Vista. Ubuntu found all hardware and installed them right away. -
Since it can run on either battery, this means that I can remove the main battery (heavier), and just run the bay battery, in that case, I believe the weight of the notebook should be lighter than 1.98kg.
S7110 modular bay battery wouldn't charge if main exists!
