May i ask which CPU is suitable for the upgrade? I'm currently on [email protected], motherboard model: FJNB1B5.

    Thanks.

    Hi boypogi,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Am I right to say that I can just replace the T2060 with a T7200 and the S7111 will run smoothly?

    Regards.

    Hi boypogi,

    1. Current BIOS version is 1.29, Fujitsu website latest BIOS version for S7111 is 1.12, am I having the latest version?
    2. T2060 is running at 533MHz while T7200 is 667MHz, will the motherboard support new FSB?
    3. Are T2060 and T7200 have the same pin grid array?

Just wanna make sure all green light before hitting the launch button at newegg ;)

Does seem odd about the odd about the BIOS. How old is your machine? Perhaps they haven't made the new one available for download. I know the S7111 was offered with Core 2 Duos, which I generally a good sign.

The FSB is controlled by the CPU, which is why the T2060 has a slower FSB.

I believe both the T2060 and T7200 are Socket M. You shouldn't have a problem there.

I upgraded my R60 from the T2300e to the T7400. I know one problem with ThinkPads, I've no idea as to whether this problem applies to Fujitsus, is unless you have a Rev. 3 motherboard, which I did, you couldn't upgrade to the Core 2 Duo. Some of the the first T60s, R60s and Z61s couldn't upgrade to the Core 2 Duos, which in my opinion isn't all that big a deal. The clock speeds are the same. You're just losing 64 bit support, which isn't all that important.

You may wish to get your CPU off eBay. That's where I got mine. Just get one with a 30 DOA warranty. It's much cheaper, and you'd have a chance to get it installed and tested. If it makes it the 30 days the chances it'll fail afterwards is very small.

What's your goal here? If you're just doing Office and Internet, a faster hard drive is probably a better upgrade. It's cheaper and more so than the CPU will make you're machine seem faster. It'll be easier to install and you don't have to consider all this other stuff. Good Luck.
