To all those people who complain about dead pixels:

My Fujitsu N6010 screen went HALF DEAD!

I looked inside the laptop but couldn't find anything obviously wrong (e.g. loose wires).

Any ideas how to fix this? I paid $2500 for this laptop :(

    Thanks.

When did you pay 2500 for this?

Try booting a different OS if possible, maybe try loading off of a cd or flash drive if possible. If it boots fine and the problem goes away it's a windows or display driver issue. If the problem persists it's an issue with the screen itself and it will probably need replacement.

    In summer 2005.

When I resume the laptop from standby, the left side of the screen flickers a bit, then goes into the state in the picture. Kinda odd to be a driver problem, but I'll try booting this Knoppix image.

I haven't managed to fix the screen. I sold the laptop to some guy who thought he could fix it, but nope, he couldn't either.

Hey, it's not all that bad. At least you still have half a screen! :p

I suggest occupying the dead half with a nice picture. Family, a lady friend, future laptop, a sad face... you get the idea.
