    Hey guys,
I've done a lot of research and think I'm going to buy a Fujitsu S7010, though I'm still not sure whether I should wait for Sonoma or not... Anyways, I'll be in Seoul and Hong Kong in early August this summer and was wondering if laptops there were cheaper/more advanced in general. Should I pick up my new Fujitsu there or order one from Portable One? Thanks,

As you know, I just recently came back from Hong Kong and bought my P7010 there. As long as you do your research and know what you want there's no reason why you shouldn't get it in Asia.

Keep in mind you won't have your 3 year local warranty (just 1 year international) and be very careful where you buy it. Look up Fujitsu's Asian website for a list of authorized retailers and get it only from them even if the price is a little more than at another store. You don't want to be scammed into purchasing an off shore model or one passed off as new but has been worked on internally to not be exactly Fujitsu factory.

In Hong Kong you can get a discount if you ask, if you don't get one move on, there's lots of authorized dealers selling Fujitsu laptops. I waited till the last day to get mine after looking everywhere comparing prices there and back home. I got mine at Wise computer in the Mongkok computer centre. You should check them out when you are there they should be able to give you a good price on one. Good luck and have fun!!!!!

I say buy stateside if that's where you will be for the bulk of the next three years. That way you can get the 3yr warranty. However, if you don't plan on doing anything strenuous to/with your notebook, you may not even need the warranty. In which case you should buy in Asia if it's cheaper or better.

Personally, I would rather deal with a small local company than a large faceless global company.

it also depends a lot on what the currency exchange rate is at the time you go. CMan is from Canada and electronics tend to be priced higher there than in the U.S. so he could save more easily, in the U.S. prices are a little more competitive given the exchange rate and relatively weak US$.
