Hey guys... I posted back in August when getting my S6210 and again, thus far I love this machine.

One question though, is there anyway to shutoff the monitor or put the notebook in standby mode without it shutting of AIM?

I like having AIM on 24/7, but if the screen shuts off, so does AIM.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure it's wise to leave your notebook on 24/7. It probably won't really hurt it, but I'd still advise against. Anyway, the AIM is not triggered by the screen shutting off, it's triggered by the standby. You just need to disable standby in the power settings in control panel.

You could also disable Standby and use a screensaver.
