    Hi,

I've had my s6231 since mid-January, and I have to say I love it. However, just recently I've noticed that sometimes when I close the lid shut (it clicks shut) the computer does not go to standby completely. Instead, it stays on and drains the entire battery down. Even worse, I always put it in my Crumpler School Hymn sleeve, and when it doesnt turn off it cooks itself in the sleeve! Luckily, I've only had this problem twice (both in the last week), but even once is a concern.

This started happening when I got a Dell 2005FPW screen (Dell had a super discount - $487 with free shipping). Attaching this required me to update the video drivers, but I just dont see how that has much to do with anything.

Anyone else had a problem with it not going to standby?

    David

This is offtopic dml48, but I had a question about the sleeve you got. Since the s6231 is 13.3 inches, does it fit into the 12" or 15" bag? How is the fit and do you know if there are any other bags that have a better fit for the s6231?

Yes, this has happened to my S6231 a few times and I cannot seem to figure out why. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

The 12" fits snugly... when putting it in the sleeve you need to make sure the corners are wrapped around the laptop (instead of being smushed). Otherwise it fits perfectly. I don't know about any other sleeves...

Good (?) to hear someone else has this issue. Anyone know if this is common to XP Pro users or only s6231 users?

Going to standby usually fails because some software is running that doesn't shut down properly. I've experienced this too and attributed it in most cases to AVG virus scan. I've had many fewer problems by making sure it's not trying to run a scan when I shut down. I also disabled an active spyware scanner I had, which caused similar issues.
