    Hi,

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I interested in buying P7010. Before I fork out so much money, I would like to see it first. The only thing that concerns me is the fan noise which I've been reading about on this forum. I currently have a P2110 which uses the Transmeta Crusoe processor. I like it because it is so quiet. So I would like to see a P7010 so I can decide if I can live with the fan noise.

Does anybody know where in the SF Bay Area that has a demo unit of P7010? I went to Fry's already but they did not have it.

    Thanks in advance.

Wish I could help...I live in Ca and the Fry's out here had one I could play with before I bought. If you want my personal opinion on the P7010D I absolutely love it. The fan kicks on occasionally but I really don't think it's that loud (I have a 5400rpm HD and a lot of ram). If you are looking to save some cash and get a super quiet machine take a look at the Dell 700m. I had one of those for a while and it was very quiet. Inexpensive too but I wouldn't trade in my Fujitsu... :fujitsu:

If you do decide to buy I suggest Portableone...they have some options you can't get through Fujitsu.

    ash211,

    Thanks for the information.

I'm not a big fan of Dell. A lot of my coworkers have Dell laptops. For some reason, they just don't feel very nice. Maybe I'm biased.

I was thinking of either getting the P7010 or get the Sony T250 or just wait for the new models to be released by Sony and Fujitsu. Whatever I get, I need to make sure it lasts me for at least 3 years. Otherwise, my wife will divorce me :( .

I read that the new Fujitsu will not have a fan. And it also uses the newer Intel chipset. In the guide from NotebookReview, it doesn't show too much liking to the new chipset. So now I'm not sure what to do. Confused...?

You might wait for the refresh that is said to be fanless. The fan on the P7010 bother me, it's almsot always on now. Much worse than the last P7010 I had.

As I posted earlier...I have some upgradded hardware in my P7010D that would make me think the fan would always be on but that doesn't seem to be the case. Every once in a while the fan comes on for about 5 to 20 seconds and it never really seems to be that loud. Just my opinion.
