Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing something similar somewhere.
I have a P5020 for about 3 years now. I have Windows XP professional installed on it. I use my notebook daily and must say that I am very satisfied with it so far. It hardly ever crashes (blue screen).
However I go very often to Singapore (mainly on transits) and everytime I use my notebook at the airport it crashes several times. Most of the time while starting up, so I have to restart a few times until it finally works, but it also sometimes happens for no reason after 30 minutes of use.
Has anyone ever (at certain locations) experienced something similar?

Maybe their wireless network has been breached. Do you have an antivirus + firewall on your lappy?

Turn off your wireless and see if it still happens.

At the airport they offer wireless and cable connections. The problem occurs on both. It also makes no difference, if I use the battery or not. My estimated guess so far (which frightens me a bit) is that there is some form of radiation that has a very minor impact ( but enough) on the performance of the chips in the notebook.

Have you tried reinstalling windows before going there again? Also try booting your laptop without any cables plugged in and wireless turned off. If it does boot fine, there might be some malware (most probable) either on your computer or on changai's network.
p.s. I've never had this issue when i was in changai airport but i was using an ASUS -

I saw a very similiar problem at last years Intel's Developer Forum (IDF) in the Moscone Center in San Francisco. My machine worked fine with the wireless that was everywhere in the building, but my colleague's machine would blue screen everytime he enabled the wireless, (even without trying to connect), just detecting the n/w seemed to be enough to blue-screen it. An updated driver for the Intel 2200 Mini-PCI card inside the notebook fixed it. Not sure if this is your problem but it could be worth a try to update the 802.11 drivers to the latest for that machine. Since FJ don't seem to ever update their drivers, go to the original manufacturer if possible for the latest.
