Hey Brian or anyone! Do you know if you can still get the Fujitsu student discount through P1??? I saw this on another post. I am a college student but I already ordered from P1 and it is still coming to them from Fujitsu. Do you think they can still give me a student discount? I suppose I will call them tomorrow but I thought id ask you guys since maybe someone is on tonight that has some answers. When I saw it my heart dropped. It was like i just burned $80 and then flushed it down the drain (but not as fun). :(

the 5% discount is through the Fujitsu Web Store only, call 1-800-FUJITSU to confirm this. I'm not so sure you're getting a worse deal with P1 though...the Fujitsu online store prices are not usually as good as what P1 will offer you and 5% just isn't all that much. Still, if you could get a better deal through Fujitsu with the 5% off then maybe the folks at P1 will acknowledge this and meet the price...I don't know your situation though so can't say for sure.

actually I found multiple references to people who got a student discount through P1:

    http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4159&SearchTerms=portable,one,student,discount
    http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4063&SearchTerms=portable,one,student,discount

Heres 2 off hand. I also found another from someone who got the discount but cant find the thread right now.

OK. I called them and asked. They said that they DO offer a student discount themselves but that they cant offer it and the extended warrany promotion at the same time. I told them I understand, but I at least wanted to make this post so that some other student considering P1 would know they DO offer student discounts of 5% on SOME items. Maybe had I called about the student discount before I placed my order I might have got it. Something to consider...

I hope someone benefits from this.

Yes indeed, I got a student discount at P1 when I bought my N5010. As a student, you may CHOOSE the student discount or the promotional item- when I ordered I had to choose between the 5% off or free RAM upgrade. Non-students just get the promotional item (RAM, extended warranty, what ever)- oh how sad to get more for your money[ ;)]
