I know i might be too picky on lcd screens, but for each minute that I stare at the T2010 screen, it only annoys me more. Altough the contrast ratio , brightness and uniformity of the T2010 screen are among the best in the market , its color rendition is way way way below satisfaction. Color looks dull and lackluster. I feel the color space is so limited that I can hardly see true green red, and yellow. Colorwise, the T2010 screen would easily be blew away by T60 SXGA+ ips screen when compared side by side.
I used to have a thinkpad x60t sxga+. The screen is supposablly from the same manufacturer BOE-hydis, and both are AFFS panels except that T2010 has LED backlight which makes it brighter. The color looks exactly the same on x60t or if i recall correctly even darker.
From what I understand, the AFFS is an advanced technology based on IPS and is expected to inherit all the wide viewangle, extreme sharp and accurate color characteristics of IPS. The lcd panel in T2010 does its job well in providing us pleasant viewing angles. But where is the vibrant color? Is it filtered by the thick protective glass layers on screen or being lack of good driving circuits? Any thoughts here?

First of all the T2010 does not have a AFFS screen, it is a BOE-Hydis screen but it is some form of IPS. Secondly, don't expect a screen to have good colors just because it may be IPS, it still only has 262k of colors. Third have you tried to calibrate the screen?
I've not experienced any of the annoyances you have regarding the lack of colors and I have compared it to my Dell 20" IPS monitor which is especially color rich. The colors on mine seem fine and not even once have I thought it was a problem. Then again I don't use it for art but even for day to day video, photo viewing, and web surfing, I don't perceive any issues.
Try this icc profile which I found on a blog site with calibrated settings:

You need Vista as it probably won't work in XP.
