I'm having trouble getting my T4410 to finish booting when I have my CF-card reader inserted into the expresscard slot. I changed the boot order so that floppy is last (there is no floppy, so I don't know what it's pointing at), and it changed nothing.

The boot process stops with the Fujitsu logo onscreen. The bar at the bottom makes it to about 60%. It hangs there until I eject the expresscard.

Here's what I have installed in the expresscard reader.

There was no CF card in it at the time.

I kept the reader installed in my previous laptop (it's flush with the case in both my old laptop and my T4410), and it never caused a problem in that machine. I'd like to keep it in there to make it easy to keep track of, since I don't use the expresscard slot for anything else.

    Thanks for any guidance!

I think many computers suffer from this problem. I've seen a few, including an Acer desktop that we own, and it might have to do with the boot capabilities of your machine as you have suspected. Simply ejecting the device solves the problem. You can also go into bios and disable booting from USB devices (or external media, look for similar wording,) and that usually fixes this problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, lucyaz. I removed everything except HDD, HDD2 (the external one), and CDROM from the boot order and it still hangs. Worth a try, though!
