Hello, I was hoping to get some feedback from users of the T730 and whether or not they have experienced some of the same issues we have.

First a little background. I am a netadmin of a business that has over 350 T730s, along with several hundred T4220s, 4210's and T2020's.

Our repair department has reported a higher mainboard failure rate with the T730 in comparison to previous models. There are also a number of other hardware annoyances and I will list them below. I would appreciate feedback from anyone that has had a problem with a T730 or anybody that owns one. We are trying to determine if we just got a bad batch or if the issue is bigger than that.

As of this writing, we calculate about a 7% mainboard failure rate (23 examples so far) and this model has only been deployed since August 2010. Please note that we are running Windows XP 32bit on all of them, and they are all clones created from a common image.

    Problems we've experienced are:

    1. Flaky mouse pad (flings off in random directions, wont track properly, etc)
    2. LCD cable on underside of mainboard wiggles itself loose over time
    3. USB ports become temporarily unresponsive. A reboot fixes this.
    4. Runs hot
    5. Mainboard failures, manifested in one of the following ways:

    - System will not POST, power comes on for 1-2 seconds then shuts itself off
    - Will not charge batteries
    - Super dark/dim display (almost looks like the screen is black)
    - Screen goes randomly fuzzy, followed by an audible hissing sound from the speakers and then rebooting itself. Usually happens when picked up or handled or light pressure is applied to the underside of the tablet.

If anyone has seen these or simliar issues with the T730, I'd appreciate a post with a brief description of your experience.

    Thanks!

You might be better of posting this on tabletpcreview.com where you'll find more T730 users.
