Machine was working well albeit a little slow. A friend asked how the restore point worked, he felt if he could return the machine to the earliest possible restore point it would delete anything recent which was causing the machine to run slow. Easy I declared and went through the normal process, as the machine was rebooting it stopped with an error message
'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

    <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.

Please re-install a copy of the above file.'

There is no recovery partition, I tried all the F keys during booting, sooooo who is going to offer the help needed and help me escape the rucking from my friend? There are no restore discs either so perhaps we need a copy of windows XP home?

    many thanks

    Tranquillo
