hi guys, i plugged in a cell phone to usb cable into my s6210 and heard a "DING" sound then my usb ports became dead. that "ding" sound isn't the normal detection sound either.

so basically, none of my usb ports will detect anything, BUT it does have power going through it because the optical mouse will light up, but not work. i checked driver management and it says the device is working properly for the USB/USB root hub. any ideas as to what could've happened and how i can fix it? would the usb ports be damaged on the board? thanks.

I saw it once on a USB-2.0 hub. It was gone. And on a Gigabyte motherboard. Gone too. :(

    What happens if you restart?

Not that it is likely to work, but maybe a driver update.

Wow. That is just crazy. Doesn't sound too good. Sounds like something may have gotten phisically damaged.

Not nessasarily the ports themselves but something on the board probably. It is probably not likely that they would all have gone out at the same time.

Then the hub controller died. Unfortunately. You probably have only one USB hub with a few ports on it. I guess there is no other thing than to service the notebook, and they would change the mainboard. Tell them the USB ports just stopped working if you have the warranty. Otherwise....

    Good luck,
