I bought a used Amilo laptop a while ago and its been giving out a shrill, short, twotone ringing sound at frequent intervals for many months, its not as far as I can tell web-sourced as it happens in offline mode , even if Im working on Excel on my hard drive.Seems to happen every few minutes, but cant spot any pattern to it.
Can anyone recognise this and advise how to disable it??its coming from the Windows XP side I think, as it continues without the external speakers plugged in.
    my email is [email protected]
    Cheers for any help, Adrian.

    Hi,
Do you have a modem installed?
Most amilo's have motorola sm56 on board. It sound like a protest beep when you do not install the drivers, because you don't need the modem.
That's the onliest reason I could think off.
