It is my understanding that Fujitsu will soon be releasing a refreshed version of the N3511. I noticed that they just dropped the price $100 today, which probably a signal that at updated version will be coming out soon.

Anyway, I am planning to buy a 3511. Has anyone heard what the nature of the changes are? and when the new version will be released ?

    Thanks,
    Heather ;)

Highly doubt that there will be updates to the N3511. Afterall, it only just came out to replace the N3510. Any major upgrades to the GPU would require a case redesign because of the heat and apart from that, there is really nothing much worth updating since it just updated its CPU. Of course, i could be wrong.

Heather, where did you hear there is an updated N3511 coming out? The N3511 is a fairly new machine and just replaced the N3510. Ivan at P1 told me the price drop is likely due to prices going down on the Intel chip. I'd like to know your source, if any, before I place an order.

    Thanks.

The person who told me based it on the fact that Fujitsu price drops typically preceed model updates. However, I have subsequently found no one that has any other info about upcoming changes. So based on what you heard about the Intel price drop, combined with the fact that the 3511 was recently upgraded, leads me to believe that there probably no changes coming for quite awhile.
I am going to go ahead & order a 3511 this week. I just have to decide whether I upgrade the harddrive to 7200rpm, and how much RAM to get.

The 3511 is nearly brand new...I'm not aware of any planned updates.

Tom's Hardware had an article suggesting the 7200rpm drive whenever possible. I can't find the link but I'm sure you can Google it.
