The P7000 User's Guide says to run "Click Me", the icon in the bottom of the start folder. It takes 10 minutes to run, and then the icon goes away.

Apparently it loads various utilities, but it doesn't say which ones.

Does anyone know exactly what "click Me" does?

I took it to mean there were late breaking driver updates which didn't make it to the "gold" image and were added thereafter.

But wouldn't that be taken care of by the separate automatic driver update software Fujitsu puts on?

I have had my N6010 for about three weeks and still haven't "Click Me!"'ed yet. The manual says:

"When you click the icon, your system will automatically build the icon tray in the bottom right of the screen. These icons provide links to utilities you will frequently access."

Well, I already have a system tray and I didn't have to click CM! to get it. And whenever I see something from a supplier that says "This is really valuable stuff you'll use a lot", but doesn't say what it is, I get suspicious. As much as possble, I like to know what programs are installed on my machine and what they do.

I do have the automatic driver update installed and it works fine. But I also still have the CM! icon which I have yet to touch. Anybody know specifically what it does?

It primarily configures and installes the Atheros WiFi manager, which I always remove. It might also add the icon for the Fujitsu auto update, which I've never seen used in my 3 years with Fujitsu.

Brian, Why don't you use the Atheros WiFi manager, and what do you use instead? I'm new to WiFi, and so far I haven't found a tutorial for the Atheros application.

I wish there was a definitive answer to exactly what is installed or configured by "Click me". I want to know exactly what is installed and running on every one of my PCs, and how it got there.

    Gildor,
You've had your model for about 3 weeks. I was curious. Did you want this one because you preferred it over the new version coming out? I want to make sure I'm correct. You say you just bought the N6010 ...the 17"??? Why do did you not have an interest in the newer version to be released? That's what I'm wating for. I'd love to hear your opinion.

Edit...Do you prefer the P4 over the newer versions?

Well, I am rather embarrased to say I knew nothing of the new models when I ordered mine. When I was doing research, I didn't discover this forum until after I got my computer. I wanted it customized and I couldn't find anyone that did it either online or in a B&M other than Fujitsu (yes, I also didn't uncover Portable One until after I got it). So, I wound up ordering mine directly from Fujitsu. Oh well, water under the bridge and all that, and at least I got $50 rebate and 512MB flash drive out of the deal.

Now having confessed, I will say that I am very happy with my N6010. It performs very much up to my expectations. All I've read about the newer models indicates its an incremental upgrade, so there is nothing that makes me think I would have waited had I known befoerhand. My main complaints (no CF slot, no Bluetooth, no option for big, fast hard drive, the AC adapter is honking big) are nothing I can't live with, and I have no idea if the new models will address these. Regardless, since I am happy with my computer, I am not worrying about it. There is always something new in the computer world coming out in the next month so.

I build my own desktops, but I am pretty new to the notebook world, at least in terms of looking at component specs in any detail. So, whether the new CPU option is wonderful or not is not something I am up to speed on. Again, nothing I've read makes me regret my purchase.

I actually use the atheros manger. for some reason XP takes longer to boot if I use the windows manager; it just gets to the welcome screen and stays there for a while (probably establishes a connection before starting windows), but then again I am not on an exactly normal network and there is nothing that I can do about it.

but anyway the profile switching is nice to have. I have access to 2 networks where I am, and sometimes one of them goes down (network is there but no internet) so its a fast way to move to the other!

Poking around in the Registry reveals that ClickMe runs C:FujitsuStartFMVStartFMV.exe (at least on my N6010). I loaded up the program into a hex editor, but it didn't have any text that indicated what programs it installed. If there any disassembly wizards out there, thay could probably figure it out.

I still haven't run it and I removed it from the Start Menu by unchecking the "Manufacturers Link" box on the Advanced tab of the Start Menu Properties.

Obligatory warning: Don't mess with Registry unless you know what you are doing. You could make your computer un-bootable.
