Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I've had the laptop (s6240) for about 2 months now and this problem has been around since the 2nd, 3rd week.

I plug in my headphones once the computer is on, and it doesn't detect them. Sometimes I have to pull it out and put it back in again just to get it to detect them. I am not sure if this is another problem, but when I turn on my computer and I plug in my headphones halfway during the boot up sequence it stilll doesn't detect them once I enter my password to get into windows.

Not sure what I should do, any suggestions? Thanks guys

What do you mean detect them? They're plugged in and the sound still comes out of the speakers?

Yep! that's whats happening. I was saying detect, because everytime I plug in my headphones a little bubble pops up saying connected.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I never get a bubble...huh. Although I disabled bubbles, but prior to that I've never seen one. That port might be bad. Can you try external speakers or anything else to see if the same thing happens?

never heard of a popup bubble with headphones before- don't think XP should do that.

the bubble pops up from my realtek hd audio manager that says it's connected. As for my speakers they work just fine, it's just when I plug headphones in, it doesn't always connect. Should I take it back to get work done on it?
