I have a lifebook t4020d. I bought it without drive because I thought I could just pop in a slim drive.

But apparently they are in some kind of chassis/enclosure. Does anybody know where I can get it?

    Thanks
    Anton

From Fujitsu or a reseller like www.portableone.com

Keep in mind we also have a Tablet site if you need help our would like to contribute there.

the tabletpcreviewspot forum didnt help me - the problem is that the dvd-burners fujitsu has sell for like 350 $. But as far as I know its just a slim drive in a case/chassis/plastic enclosure - I just want that case so I can put my own slim drive in there.
    I might be wrong.
I dont even know what the official term is for such a case, so its difficult to search for it.

I think i know what you mean, the plastic frame that you screw onto the drive? I can't help you with where to get it though.

Yupp, Portable one doesnt even seem to have the drives, not even mentioning those plastic cases - they probably dont sell them usually, so I wonder if anybody knows of other sources
...man, i thought i could save some $$ by not buying in internal right from the start (still have an external 5.1/2) but add it later (which is usually a not so bad idea for RAM), but I didnt think of those stupid extra enclosures - that drives are not standardized

...yeah, see the slimdrive costs 50 $, but fujitsu sells theirs for like 150 or more. the only thing extra fujitsu gives you is that plastic case...
anyhoo, i mailed portableone and they said they would look into it. been a few days, hopefully theyll get back to me.
