Dose the Turion 2.0gig, (or in general) run hotter than Intel processors?
    I like the A3130.
I like Toshiba and fujitsu quality...as long as fujitsu is as good as they were a few yrs ago...

Anyone who has one of these experiencing any vista issues?? like freezing? crashing? prob during shut down? Prob playing movies???

If their are vista issues can you download fixes from their web site??
    This is big...

I need this laptop to last along time....I have a toshiba, 6 yrs old....never had a problem.

My school now has vista......I may be forced into a new machine sooner than i thought....

    thanks for your input.

Generally, AMD chips run cooler than Intel. The Core 2 Duo may be faster but it produces more heat. Higher clock speeds also equals more heat and shorter battery life. Most laptop sold today are around 1.6 GHz, the best balance between speed, heat, battery life and price. My Acer with a TL-50 Turion64X2 runs cooler than an equivalent Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. Also laptop design can contribute to cooler running temperatures. Acers and Fujitsus have more air ducts than other brands so they run cooler than say, Dell,Sony,Apple and HP.

My old HP had an AMD processor (not dual core) and ran relatively cool. It had two big vents on the bottom, another vent on the right, and another vent on the back. Nearly 2 years have gone by and the fan started to come on more often (probably due to dust buildup despite blasting the laptop vents with compressed air.) The Fujitsu A series....on the other hand...doesn't really have any vents on the bottom. Just a main vent on the back.

There was an A6030 (Core 2 Duo) review done by Kevin on this forum.

    "Heat and Noise

The cooling system on the A6030 was able to easily handle a wide range of processor loads with minimal noise and heat through the bottom of the laptop. Under normal use of internet browsing and chatting on instant messenger the laptop stayed cool and quiet. For the first 15-20 minutes the fans were off as it warmed up, but then would cycle on and off from then on. Fan noise was barely above a whisper, so you won’t stick out in a quiet classroom. Under more stressing activities like running the benchmarks for this review, fan noise was louder, but not obtrusive. The fabric pads mentioned in the build section helped a bit, but I have never been burned by other laptops… so it was a hard comparison to make. The soft padding did make my legs feel like royalty compared to standard laptops though."

I am guessing he did this test on battery under "power saver" mode but you can ask him what its like on performance mode if he still has the laptop. I am willing to guess the fan will run almost constantly on high performance mode. BTW, there is also a balanced mode too but I usually leave my A3130 on either high performance or power saver. I wish there was more than one main vent on this laptop, the fan (although not as loud as my HP) is kind of annoying and comes on more often then I'd like.

BTW Joey, why so many threads on just one laptop??

Thank you so much for the info.
    Sounds good.
So many threads because, (unfortunatley), I reasearch the ce*p out of everything before I buy it.
I have 2 kids, a house, wife, dog, and I go to school at night so I want to make sure when I spend my money, I spend it wisely. I just happen to be stuck on this fujitsu, (and the new 14" Toshiba).....I was just reaffirming that fujitsu was as reliable and long lasting as i thought..
thanks for the info and concern!
    you've been a great help.

If you liked the A3130, you might want to check out the A6025 at NewEgg here. It offers the same construction and chassis as the A6030, but has slightly lesser specs than the A6030 and I believe lacks the touchpad writing feature. Other than that they are the same.

Depending on your need you may not even notice a performance difference between it and the better speced A6030. They're out of stock right now at NewEgg, but are due back before the $200 rebate ends. I would also point out there are no returns on notebooks purchased at NewEgg. Keep that in mind.

I think performance will suffer with only 1GB ram on that A6025. I recommend at least 2GB ram upgrade for Vista to keep it going smoothly.
