I just purchased the modular bay battery, and I found that when I plug it in, the laptop discharges two batteries simultaneously. Why doesn't it discharge them one after another so that one battery can have a longer life? Is there any settings to achieve this? Thank you.

Actually, its better to discharge both at once. Laptop batteries are only supposed to be fully discharged once every 30 charges to refresh them. Its always better to recharge them while they still have about 40% of their juice left. I read that on an article that was in a forum here. Good to know.

I recently bought dual batteries for my P7 and wondered the same thing. It's better to discharge one at a time, because if not, you'd work one to death, while the second rarely got used. I wouldn't mind a hack to override this for short periods of time though. I would love to burn the bay battery first when travelling, so the main would be ready to run VD movies on the airplane.
