[]It came! Weird thing was the FedEx guy said that no signature was required as they were on a Valentine's Delivery schedule. Huh?
Anyway, taking multiple digital pictures, I cracked the box open. Everything looks good. Opened the Fujitsu box. Nicely packed. It appears the 512MB upgrade was performed at the factory and not at Laptops.inc. So, for those of you concerned about not having a 256MB to sell, don't worry about it. There never was one!
Pulled out the P5020D. Nice! Easy to wave about with one hand. (Not that I'll be doing that on a regular basis, mind you!)
Fired it up. Start up time seemed longer than I'm used to with my Pentium 4 desktop, but I'm not going to split hairs.
Screen looks nice. Went through the setup. Played around with control panels and switching to "classic" view. Why did the screen go dark? I think there's some setting for that. I'll dig around the forum for that info.
Now, since my kids have the day off from school, I gotta shuttle them to Blockbuster for some movies and games![!] I'll post more thoughts later tonight when I have chance to play with my new toy!
Talk to you all later,
Nobbie
P.S. Shout out to Ivan and gang at Laptopsinc. [:I]Ivan took care of me really well. Made up for all that nasty tax money I had to pay for Arnold's folly. Thanks Ivan, Victor and Jason!

Nobbie, glad to hear the stork finally dropped off your little baby there, or Valentine's Day gift as FedEx seems to want to treat it.
Definitely post any thoughts you have on the P5020 and if you want to send along any pictures for us to host that you might want posted here we'll gladly do that. -
I suppose I can hand over Fujitsu forum od duties to nobbie now!

LOL![
]Brian, you crack me up!
Well, took it to the kids' basketball practices and played with it some more. Setting different desktop patterns, screen savers, etc. Odd that only the Fujitsu-branded wallpapers fill the screen, but I guess that makes sense given the 1280 x 768 screen resolution. Hmmm....time for some custom P5000 wallpapers? Might have to crank up Photoshop and just do that!
At the second basketball practice (one of my sons is on two teams and he has two two-hour practices back-to-back on Friday nights), I let my daughter and her friend watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on DVD. Played great and looked great, once the girls realized that you had to touch the trackpad every ten minutes to deactivate the screensaver. Doh! Is there a way to have the P5020 turn off the screensaver when a certain program is running? Would make sense for playing DVDs. The sound was actually quite acceptable for little kids' ears. It's not a home theater with THX or anything, but they could hear the sound effects, music and dialog just fine. The battery indicator was getting low (one bar) so I plugged in the power adaptor and was surprised to see the picture get really bright! Hmmm...have to set it to full power all the time I think.
Tried some word processing on it. Default was 10 point type, which is miniscule! I bumped it of the 12 points and that was fine, even with sleepy eyes. I'll try 14 to see if that works better. The upside of this is that the screen holds a lot for its size. I typed and typed trying to see how the document scrolled as the text filled the page, but it took forever and the basketballs were starting to fly overhead, so, I'll test that out later, I think!
Right now, I'm charging the unit up to full power. It was at 36%. I'll post more after I play around with it.

I modify my power setting when playing dvd's to protect form the screen shut off. As for the small type, bump the zoom in Word instead of the font sitze.

what were you using to play the DVD? I know if you play DVDs or movies in windows media player, it turns off the screen saver or monitor power saving
-
Hmmm, good to know. I use WinDVD on mine.

I use WinDVD also. I'll have to see if there's a preference for setting that within the app.
Woohoo! It came!
