I bought my laptop now back in September right before school started. I used the laptop mainly for typing up notes in class, or for some word processing to write up reports, essays and such. At first the keys became shiny after about a month. Now the space bar right corner is close to mirror finish, and some of the letters are starting to wear off, is this normal? I would assume this isn't covered by warranty or anything.

So my question to everyone is, should I replace the keyboard? If so how much would it cost? And are there any alternatives than to use the OEM keys that fujitsu makes, since for me anyway they wear out quite fast. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem, and last time I took my laptop for some warranty repairs and one of the problem was the left side of my keyboard is slightly raised up. So I had them look at it. Surprisingly they put in a new keyboard for me free of charge.

Maybe you can give that a try.

Sorry to say that this keyboard wearing out you are encountering is perfectly normal and a part of life. It used to bother me a lot too but once I realized that its perfectly normal, I just had to get used to it.

Though its strange for the letter keys to rub off, I think I heard that on Fujitsu's keyboards, the keys easily get worn off than most other keyboards.

I've had s6231 for 1.5 years and for the past 8 month it's been heavly used by my wife for school work, still it doesn't show any signs of wear... maybe they used better material in the older s series
