Anyone own a s7020d or s6240? i plan on ordering one of these in the next few days, and just want to here some opinions from someone that has one.

    i have a s6010 from over 3 years ago. i like it, but it's a slow pent III-M 1ghz.
    i can't wait to upgrade.

You missed them, just select Fujitsu from the drop down.

Nearly everyone who owns an S loves it, I think they're some of the best machines on the market. Shame they don't offer dedicated video options though.

The s7020D is a fabulous notebook. HOWEVER- please read my thread to the attention of all S7020D owners. Fujitsu has neglected to image the software for the wireless card on the laptop, which had caused me an unbelievable amount of aggravation troubleshooting it with Fujitsu techs. The solution that I posted appears to be the solution- it has been running fine since things were fixed. I would hope after all Ivan's (from Portable One) correspondence with Fujitsu they will have this straightened out and hopefully the ones they send out will be corrected. However, I would make sure that under programs you see the Atheros Client software listed, or it is not installed. It is a simple download (again, see the instructions) so should not dissuade you from buying it. Personally, I thought for the very slight weight difference the 14.1" screen was worth it. Despite my issues (which are presumably corrected now) I would highly rec. the unit. Whatever you decide to do- buy it from Portableone- their service can't be beat!

i wish i could find a full review on this site of a new s7020 or s6240. and no, there are no reviews from that drop down menu for these models. and i'm talking about actual user review on this site, not BS commercial reviews.

m61376 how do you like the screen on your laptop, any issues? how is the heat on and battery life on it?

    thanks again,
    Randolph

I think the screen is great. We opted for the CV screen, since my daughter (who the laptop is for) hates the SXGA as much as I do. It is a personal choice- many people prefer the greater screen real estate, but I hate everything being so tiny; my daughter felt the same way when we checked out the screen resolutions in the store. The screen resolution is something you really need to go see. As far as the screen quality- it is FAR superior to the Sony and Toshiba's which have similar displays, and I think the colors are more vibrant and the display richer than the IBM T43's.
As far as heat- there is some warmth on the left side, but it doesn't get hot. I have had laptops where you need something as an insulator on your lap; that is not the case here.
Since it is not mine, I have not tested the battery life exactly. From working with it, it seems to be mroe or less as advertised.

there are reviews for the S7010 and the S6231, which are what the s7020 and the s6240 were up until like a month ago.

they are similiar, but they will mention nothing of the heat and battery life on these new models because of the new processor.

there is a reason i was asking for THOSE specific models.

anyone have first hand use with how long the battery life is on these compared to the last series? Or how hot they get compared to the last series?

i still have a chance to get a s6231 if the battery life is signicicantly shorter, or if it gets a lot hotter. for one thing, i live in spain now, and almost none of the building where i live have air conditioning, so i really don't want to get something that burns hot. i have a p3-m 1ghz in my s6010 and it's been ok heat wise. i'm just concerned that the new sonomas might burn to hot, and the battery life might have been shortened too much on the new machines.

    thanks folks,
    Randolph :)

I ordered the S6240 from Portable One last week. I expect it will ship sometime next week. BTW, It is not for me, but if I get a chance to play with it for a day or two I will post my thoughts on it!
