I just bought a fujitsu lifebook N3520.
This is a fantastic notebook and my first fujitsu.
But I have this problem -
Sometimes, the laptop wakes up automatically from hibernation mode without even touching anything. I checked BIOS settings and USB, LAN wake up is disabled. I have the software settings to "Hibernate on lid closed".
Does anyone know about it ?
I also notice that when it is shut off completely or hibernated, there is a miinor hiss type of sound coming out of the air vent. This sound goes away when I remove all powers - batter + ac line. But it resumes when I put any power in.
Please help.
-
The hiss is from the speakers. For some reason they are not powered down when you turn everything off. You will notice that when removed from AC power the battery will lose charge because of this.
-
Thanks a lot. Yes, I did notice that the battery is loosing charge when I leave it shutdown and AC cord is out. This does not seem to be good and I am disappointed now.
Just out of curiosity, may I know if you also have same N3520 laptop and how did you find out about the speakers making that hiss noise. I was thinking of taking the laptop to fujitsu service center for this.
The auto wake up seems to be resolved after I disabled lid close function in power settings. -
I had an N3500 series for a short while last year, but now I am using an N6010. It has the same speaker issue. Mine actually drains the battery pretty fast because it has an extra woofer.
I found out by just putting my ear to the components to figure out where the hiss was from
I doubt that there is any solution for this issue, it's just a bad hardware design that for some reason has yet to be corrected after 1 year. -
Good to know.
I am a little afraid to open the laptop as it might void the warranty.
I assume you opened it up to listen the hiss noise.
I will call Fujitsu to log this bug anyway.
Noise is ok but the fact that it drains battery is very bad and sad. -
Yes opening it will void your warranty. And Fujitsu's aren't that easy to take apart. Not worth it.
I guess you can try and nag them. Maybe eventually they'll get to fixing this issue.
On my N6010 the hiss is very obvious without even taking anything apart. Just puting my ear on the woofer on the bottom, it is clear that the noise is coming from it. -
I have not got any comments / feedback on the auto wake up from hibernation problem.
If anyone has noticed that a laptop comes out of hibernation automatically, please let me know. I have tried disabling the wake up on lan and usb in bios.
Thanks.
