Any comments on fujitsu laptops, as far as quality, durability, customer service after sales?
I would like one with the 128 meg video card and legacy ports.

I am down to the dell latitude d800 or waiting for the ibm to come out with the dothan 755 or the fujitsu to come out with 128 meg vid card.

What I would like is either a dothan 755 or 3.2ghz NORTHWOOD, vid card with minimum 128 megs, 1gig minimum ram, legacy ports and so on...hard to find all these together in one laptop now adays..thus the d800 possibly.
I like the fujitsu screen tho and if their quality is really good, would be willing to wait.
How do they compare in quality to the IBM?

I would love to get a Celcius but they are only available in EUrope and I am in the US...Is it possible to purchase one from over there and have it sent here?
Would it even work over here? and the warranty be good?
Or does anyone know if the celcius will come here eventually?

Below is an email I sent them with other questions if anyone would answer them..thanks..t
"Warranty on laptop...do you have anything longer than a 2 year warranty?
Do you have any other accidental other than for the screen..i.e. the whole laptop?

I ask because I am really trying to find a reason to leave Dell for my next laptop and they have the 4 year complete care/accidental, onsite repair warranty and was wondering what all you have that would compare to that.

Also I am either interested in a 3.2ghz laptop with a Northwood processor....I DO NOT want a prescott...is this possible? Also on the P4 models I noticed no parallel port..is this correct?
The other I would be interested in is a 2.0ghz Dothan processor...when and what models will these be out in....These laptops have the parallel port....

WHat are your chassis/body made of...magnesium alloy?

the Crystal view screens...are those glossy coated screens? if so is it possible to get it without glossy coating..i have heard that the coating sometimes starts peeling off in time

How difficult after sales is it to get service?"

    Quality and durability are good.

Have not had to call customer service yet and hopefully never will.

Most people rank IBM first and Fujitsu not far behind (that is out of all of the brands available.

I have heard that you could import the celcius here. Do not know about warranty, etc.

The Fujitsu Crystal View screen is very bright and vibrant. It can show reflections. There is no coating to my knowledge.

    Hope that helps.

The only thing that prevented me from jumping straight at Fujitsu was the lack of a 128 MB video card. The closest thing you have is the new E series with a Mobility Radeon 9700 with 64 MB ram.

What coating are you talking about? Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong, but all Crystal View / XBRITE / Bright View laptops have a sturdy plastic / glass covering over the LCD. You should never see this enhancement as something bad because it really sets it apart from other laptop screens. Compare them in the stores and you'll see what I mean.

    --------------------
    Compaq Presario 2800T
    Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz - 15" UXGA
    512 MB RAM - 40 GB (5400 rpm)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB
Pretty good for 2002 isn't it?

I'm pretty certain that fujitsu P5000D series have a glass infront of the screen as they seller knocked it hard to prove it to me that it is durable enough to hand shock. He mentioned that it reflect light and it is exceptionally bright. Fujitsu's Screen Techonology is really good but sony i think it is better. THeir design is better than Fujitsu's but quality.. humm i'm not so sure about that..
