    hi,

I would like to know if the CDRW can be easily changed for a DVDRW (I need it), I have here a standard slim DVDRW for laptops, I suppose that the CDRW of the p5020 is also a standar slim, I saw in the review that it is removible.
please should it be better to purchase it with a CDRW cause it includes the part nedeed to conect it? Or can I purchase it without CDRW ($150less) and add it?

    thanks!

Yes, it is interchangeable, but to my knowledge, there is not yet a supported DVD burner for this model in the US. I know they have it in Japan though. I don't think a standard slim will work in this case.

    thanks for the response.

I meant that "suposedly" :) ,if there is a standard slim drive inside the "modular drive" that is inserted in the laptop, then that slim drive can be replaced by another standar slim, a DVDRW in this case. Of couse without opening the laptop and avoiding the warranty.

really it will be very strange that fuji made a non-standar optical drive, cause the cost.

I need to see a "modular drive" to know if it can be done :)

    thanks.

All my research on the topic indicates that drives will not fit without being modified. SOme only need a slight trim of the plastic door, but some require much more.

You might send an email to laptopsinc.com and ask them about it. They'll know if an import is coming soon.
