i have a xa 1526 and it currently has a tl56 1.8 and manual says the system can be bought in configuration supporting up to tl60 2.0 and i was wondering if at a later date i could upgrade the cpu?
    is it upgradable?
only wonder as some laptops the cpu is removable and some soldered on.

and if it is where would i get hold of a tl60 chip

    cheers :)

You can indeed upgrade CPU's on a notebook. Not very easy, but if you have some knowledge it can be done good.

You just need to open the notebook, locate the CPU, take off the cooling system and then take out the CPU. Clean the cooling system with alcohol, put the CPU in place, paste some cooling paste on the CPU and the cooling system and put them together. And voila you are finished.

Note: Do not follow these procuderes. Search this forum or the web for better pictures and more explanations.

A processor upgrade is expensive, as you've found out, and it generally doesn't affect performance greatly either, unless you are completing some very processor intensive tasks. A more noticible performance increase will occur, if you upgrade your hard disk or your RAM. They're also cheaper upgrades.

What I want to add is that they are also easier upgrades. Installing a RAM module or changing the hard drive is a very easy job.
