In the P series of Fujitsu notebooks you can get one with Centrino technology (intel based processor, MB and wireless card) or you can get one with Intel Pentinum M processor, MB and Atheros wireless LAN which is basically a Centrino LT but can't be called that because it doesn't use the intel wireless LAN card.
What's the difference between the two wireless LAN cards that's built into either P series LT? Is one better than the other? I know the Atheros is a a+b/g card whereas the intel is a b/g card but what other differences are there?
Going to be getting one soon and in the ultraportable market with a 10.6" WS setup looks like the Fujitsu is the ticket for me, just want to know the differences between the cards. Everything else on the LT should be the same. Thanks.

The Intel, depending on which model, if 2200BG, comes with band B and G. If 2915, comes with bang A, B and G.
As for Atheros, this one comes with B, G and SuperG (108mbps).
Hope this helps.

personally I don't think it matters a whole lot, but Atheros is supposed to be slightly better due to the super g. but really i'd be worried more about the range which has a lot to do with the antenna. so basically, go with what's cheaper imho.

I like the Atheros card and if you transfer large files on your network, the super g is appreciated.

I would pick atheros just for their tools. I cannot think of anything that I would like to control that this utility doesn't allow me to. Pretty handy! I like the locking onto a specific access point best. I always use that because the access point closest to me sort of messes up too much so I just choose to always use an AP on the floor below me whatever the state of the AP just 2 meters away from me.
