I don't know of any on their site that come 'OS Free'. You might try asking the nice folks at P1 and see what they say about trying to get a rebate for the OS out of Fujitsu.

No, very few manufacturers offer such a thing. It's a ridiculous notion since everyone needs an OS on their machine. I don't mean to offend by not including you in "everyone," but the reality is your need is statistically insignificant.

There is actually some law (or something of that sort) that disallows the sale of a prebuilt computer without an OS. How Built-on Asus get around it is beyond me.

But manuf should offer a free OS option, it is logical to do that. AMAZINGLY there are actually other options out there that function 100X better than windows! So why not have one of those options!!! ... I guess the answer is simply M$ rulez

well without windows can mean as qwester pointed out simply
    with an open o.s.
i plan to use gentoo linux and i wonder why i have to pay
to microsoft a tax for purchasing a notebook.
it's true that everyone needs a o.s. but i prefer to choose
    by myself...
however i'm not offended at all ;)
and don't forget that linux and expetially genntoo distros can
support 64bit computing much better then any win xp...

Fair enough, but for Fujitsu to support another OS for such a small number of people, well, that cost can't be justified. I agree with you though that it wouldn't be too hard to offer machines with no OS. You can buy servers that way...

Compaq and IBM do sell OS free notebooks in India...They are priced on an average 3000 INR~70 USD less than the XP home versions

I'd love this kind of option since I can get WinXP Pro from Microsoft store for $30.
But by not offering OS, Fujitsu would missed out on "ad money" from, say, Norton antivirus and AOL.
And, by not providing an OS, Fujitsu needs to make the drivers for the notebook to be compatible with all versions of Linux, all versions of Windows, etc.
Plus by choosing Microsoft, Fujitsu may also receive tech support and training from Microsoft.

Yup, and it's funny buying a OS free notebook coz it comes alog with driver CDs that carry drivers for (no prizes for getting that right!) Windows :p
