I thought you guys might think this is pretty amusing...
Earlier I posted how my "S" and "Q" keys popped off on my S6231. Anyway, I called Fujitsu and they told me there is an authorized service/dealer near me in Ohio. So, I took it there. They replaced the keyboard and called me the next day to pick it up.
As I was stopping to get something to eat, I opened up the laptop and essentially the latch that the LCD screen attached to the computer completely snapped off!! I knew this must have happend during the repair so I turned around and dropped it off at the store again.
They apologized, put in a new LCD screen, picked up the next day. I opened it up just to make sure, and this time the LED meter showing the battery and various other meters was completely shattered!!!
At this point I was pissed. Long story short, they are ordering me a new laptop.

Hey, you know, if you were going to sabotage your laptop for new one, the least you could have done was wait until the new Sonoma model came out [

hey nesbo, that's just a crying shame you get a new notebook out of the debacle [
] but really, what a huge pain, there's better things to do in life than drive back and forth to a repair shop. and not having a laptop you depend on is a huge pain too.
g'luck with the rest of this...

For some reason when one thing goes wrong everything else just follows. But at least you got a brand new laptop out of it!
But I don't get why they didn't replace the LED meter, just like they did with the other parts. Or is there some rule that after a certain amount of repairs they have to exchange the unit?
I had similar luck when I ordered my machine. But the good thing with fujitsu is that at the end of the day you will be a satisfied customer!

I've waited a long time to have an extra machine for beta testing programs and my old laptop is performing that task. I'm trying out all sorts of things that I wouldn't do on my main machines. Once I get to a point where everything is working I get timid to add new stuff to the mix. Using windows "Add or Remove Programs" I don't think completely removes programs so I can just try out everything on the test box and when it starts to puke, just reinstall winxp from the restore cd's.
What would incline me to get another S6 or S7 series within a year would be a bigger harddrive. A 7200 rpm 100mb one would be cool.
