I just purchased a fujitsu a1220 with windows 7 64, a bluray burner, and hdmi out. This laptop does not have a dedicated video card.

I am able to connect to my plasma with a vga cable by pressing Fn + F10 but when I connect with a hdmi and press Fn + F10 nothing happens on the tv end.

I do not see any option in the display preferences to switch to digital output or anything hdmi related.

What am I missing? any help is greatly appreciated.

This might sound foolish, but did you set the tv to the right setting? Example : HDMI 1, instead of PC INPUT.
Other than that, be sure the cable is connect properly and the PC setting are correct and enabled.
    Hope that helped. Good Luck.

some cards for hdmi output wouldn't work unless you disable the old display first! so make sure you disable the old output and set it to the new card. this might be in your display panel... another thing would be the driver. please install ALL things on the disc that came with your card for display output because it usually contain extra additional options to adjust display output like multiple display, single display, stretch across both screens, etc.

this is what i have found for adding a dedicated video card to your computer

the most important thing is that when you first bought your computer, it usually comes equipped with all the programs needed to run everything! if you install a new operating system over the computer, it might not have the program anymore... i have found this to happen with maybe two computers. if you did install or change something, you might have it still in the restore disc... if not, you may have to go to the customer service and get the driver or program needed to operate that part of the computer (like hdmi output, blue tooth, etc.)

another thing is to check your DEVICE MANAGER... sometimes having more than one devices of the same kind over-rides the other kind(s)... so disable the one you do not want in the device manager

you can also click on "help and support" and type in "hdmi", "hdmi output", or the likes and see if it comes up with anything...

maybe typing in "enable hdmi", "enable hdmi out", etc. might yield some useful information!
