How often do Fujitsu release new P7000 series? Any idea what may be in the next model or when will that be? Cuz I checked out one P7120 on display in NYC, a little bit disappointed. The outlook seems a littlt weird, and I like the design of P7010 better, althought it's little thicker. But given its no-fan technology and **** long battery life, it's still very attractive. If the next model comes out in like more than a year, I'd like to get P7120 now and won't like to see a new P7000 series coming out before the end of this year.

btw, I own a S6220 for a year and half, take it almost everywhere with me, dropped it on the ground maybe 3 times or more without case (yea, I'm really careless), and it's still working solid. That's why I stay with Fujitsu.

The P turns over slowly, the last few significant upgrades have been more or less annual. Fujitsu will wait for a new ULV processor probably before doing so, or some other major upgrade.

I don't know what you're tlaking about with the display, I like it better than the prior P. It's LED though, so it might look a little different.

The p7130 will be released Q2, it will have a 1.3ghz dothan (up from 1.2ghz) and have an 80gb hard drive (up from 60gb). Nothing to write home about.

Dual core p series will arrive late Q4, probably November earliest.

So there you go, nothing material until late this year, at best. Though I don't know seba's source, I think the estimates are probably accurate.

Intel has announced that it will not release a ULV Yonah until late Q2, which probably means sometime in Q3 really. Add to that the typical wait for the notebooks to integrate it and you're looking at Q4.

The Atheros card offers better range and stability over the Intel.

Is that because it also allows 802.11A, or it simply better made and of better quality?

A is useless in general, more because it's better quality and supports Super G.

One more question. I am reading about this "fanless" setup on this and one or two other machines. Obviously it is fairly new. Is there a downside to this? Have there been any big complaints about fanless notebooks?

Nope, mine doesn't get hot at all, that would be the big down side.

there is mention of the 7130 in q2 ... I'm looking to purchase a 7120 this summer, but am wondering when/if a decent price drop on the 20 will happen?

It should slide down a little over time. I don't have anything authoritative yet on a replacement.

I have some questions for you guys.

    1. Where did you guys bought your P7120?

    2. I'm not planning to game on this machine. I'm just wondering the impact on performance by using a 1.8" 4200 RPM hard drive? How long does it take for the system to boot to the desktop from the second you press the power button?

    3. What kind of battery life should I expect from just watching DVD's, multimedia files, surfing the net, and using Microsoft Office 2003? What if I add the spare battery to the optical bay? What will the battery life be?

    4. Does this notebook uses LED lighting?

    5. How's the keyboard? I have small hands, so can I still type reasonably fast? On my desktop, I can type up to 90 words per minute and that is with a Logitech LX700 keyboard.

    Thanks!

    1. from portableone.com

    2. I have never measured it but i think it has to do with not just e4h speed but how much **** is being loaded.

    3. if you go to the ECO mode, i get about 6 hours of work and that is with using skype with video. i am amazed by the battery life. I have the bigger battery but not the bay one.

ECO is their new power saving mode. I don't use it, but it's an easy way to reduce power consumption. The keyboard is pretty good in my view, very solid.

Is it possible to keep the laptop running at 1.2ghz even in battery mode? Will the laptop get unbearably hot like that? Is the keyboard a full size keyboard? I'm afraid the keys will be too small for me to type efficiently and fast.

Anyone here tried comparing the keyboard from the P7120 to the Sony TX? I don't think there are any demos around and if the keyboard for both notebooks are the same or very similar in size, then I'll just go to a Sony store and play with the TX and get the feel of the keyboard.
