Hi! I'm new to this place, and not that great of an english speaker, so please try to bear with me[ :p]

I searched around this forum a bit, and found out that the Amilo line isn't available in the USA. Hope there are some users who could help me out with my lack of any facts about performance and reliabilty of this line.

I've been browsing around the net for quite a while, and have almost decided on what I'll be buying - from my laptop, i expect a:

    -15.4" display
-a lot of raw cpu power
    -min. 512mb ram
    -min. 60gb hdd space
    -dvd burner

I've narrowed my choices to these options:

    ************************************************************
    1. The HP zv52x0 line

    ---This is the zv5250 model:
    15.4" Wide XGA Display mit 1280x800 Punkten • Athlon 64 3000+ Prozessor • 512 MB DDR-RAM • 60 GB Festplatte • DVD+R/+RW DVD Brenner Kombo Laufwerk • GeForce MX440 Grafikkarte mit 64 MB DDR RAM • 10/100 MBit LAN • 56K Modem • USB 2.0 • PCMCIA • S.Video TV-Out • Soundsystem • MS Windows XP Home Recovery • 2 Jahre Herstellergarantie mit Pick Up Service duch HP

    Also available are zv5260 with a 3200+, and zv5280 with a 3400+ and an 80gb harddrive.

The cost: around $1600 for the basic 5250, and up for better proc.

    2. Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1630

AMD Athlon 3400+ (64Bit), 80 GB hdd, 1 024 MB Ram, DVD burner, 15.4" TFT WXGA, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700-128MB, XP Home, Works Suite 2004

There is also a cheaper version available, with 512M ram.
----about 1350 euro, which is 1650 dollars for the 512mb ram version, and a bit more for the 1gig ram one. Sorry if I'm confusing, I know I am. I hate shopping...

Well, not bad, eh? Just, pricy as hell... [xx(]

    A question:
Is Athlon 3400+ worth the additional money over 3000+ ? Or should I try to order the same model with 3000+ ? Suggestions?

I will be using the laptop for software developing, and sound editing, which does need a lot of raw power.

    Darn...

    Well, thanks a lot!
