So I ordered my Fujitsu N5010 for portable one in march, and it worked great up until the last week in july when the unit crapped out. The mobo must have fried cause it wouldnt turn on, and the lights wouldnt light up when I plugged in the power cable. I decide to give portable one a call, but since it is saturday, nobody answers the support line, next up Fujitsu support. They give me an RMA number and tell me to ship it in since there isnt an authorized dealer in my area. On monday I ship the laptop back in its original package via FEDEX. I mailed it out aug 2, fujitsu signs for it on the 4th, but i dont get any email conformation from fujitus, so I Email them that friday and they say they didnt get the package even though they signed for it. After a few phone calls back and forth, Fujitsu tells me that even though they signed for the package, they didnt get it and I have to file a claim with fedex for my laptop. So i give fedex a call and after telling them what happened, they decide to run a trace on my package. They cant find it, so now i have to file a claim with them and wait around 2 weeks for an answer/check. So now Ive been 3 weeks without my laptop that I used every day for work, and will be without compensation for at least 2 weeks more.
Has anyone else had problems with their fujitsu crapping out after a few months of use, or did I just get a lemon? When the laptop was working, it was a great laptop, but for it to die after just 4 months of use is absurd. I am very dissapointed with Fujitsu over this and will not be buying a fujitsu to replace my laptop.....

That is a horror story. I have an N5010 and hope it doesn't meet the fate you have described. I also rely on mine for everyday work. There was a post just the other day about how fujitsu's were voted most reliable laptops- by the users. I seem to recall only 13% or something like that having problems. I am going to guess you got a lemon, because I couldn't find anyone bashing the unit for defects (unlike the N3010, which seems to have had cooling problems).
Where did you send you laptop to? I figured if it gave up the ghost I would have to send it to portableone, since they are an authorized repair center.
I really hope they find your machine! -
That's really strange. How can they sign for it and not receive it? Obviouslly they lost it along the way somehow.
That's what happened to me when I recently returned a headset to SonyEricsson for repair. I ended up having to file a complaint with the BBB to get a new one.

The story just got stranger. Now Fujitsu says they have it. Of course I had already filed a claim with Fedex and ordered a new laptop, was gonna get a Sony A170, so I canceled the order. Hopefully Ill get my computer back soon and be back to normal.

I think I know what happened. It sounds like somebody at shipping signs for everything and then distributes items. I bet the shipping clerk signed for the box and then left for couple of days and thus, your package is lost to the company. Happens to me at work all the time. Really annoying. I order a membrane, shipping clerk misplaces it, and two weeks later it finally shows up. Grr.

got my laptop back on Monday finally after 1 month. Fujitsu claims fedex misplaced it for 2 weeks. they had to replace the mobo. Im betting the problem was heat related since my laptop runs from 8 am to bedtime with a little 15 minute off period from carting it home from work, so close to 14 hrs every day, and sometimes all night on the weekends. the sony a170 is looking like a nice replacement, centrino w/17" screen, gotta run tons more cooler than a regular p4 w/ht...

I have a question for you. Did you send it to Fujitsu's repair depot in Memphis, TN?
