After months of looking, I finally decided to get an S6231.

I just read the post about the new s models coming out. I know the screen size is a little bigger on the 7000 series, but the specs on the linked site seem to say the 7021 is thinner, almost the same weight and size but gets "better" battery life than the 6000.

Anyone know if that's true? If so, I'm back to a problem choosing because it seems like the 7 has better specs.

Can anybody enlighten me on the size/weight/battery life diff on the new models?

I've seen the 6231 at Frye's but not the 7000 line.

    Thanks,

    V

According to what I have read- the s7020 is 1.32" x 12.1 x 9.76; weight is 3.85 lb. with weight saver and battery, 4.15 with optical drive. Battery life was either 5 or 5 and a half hours (I don't remember what the exact specs were). I too had been comparing the two units, but the new 7020 will be about the same weight for a bigger screen, so I am waiting. I'd just like to know the pricing[^]

I'd say five to five and half hours of battery life is a little optimistic. Probably between three and half and four.

If history is any indication, pricing will be nearly identical.

Sorry about the slight misinformation earlier- that's what happens when the specs of different machines start to merge together :)
According to their specs: Battery runtime:
    1st battery up to 4 h 45 min
1st + 2nd battery up to 8 h 45 min (second battery in modular slot)
IF you can believe the preview reviews, battery life is supposedly better in the new series...

Both of them are using 6-cell Li-Ion 4800mAh batteries, but I have no idea why S7021 (up to 4.2hr) can last longer than S6240 (up to 3.6hr). Or you can say S6240 consumes more on battery, but their spec. are almost identical except the screen size.
Anyway, I'm waiting for the S6240 model with SuperFine screen.
It's so damn in au here, all authorised dealers are selling old model and they are selling those laptops to customers as new models. You can't even find the S6230 which was released almost half year already.
I'm just waiting for my friend who will go back to HK to get me the S6240 next month [ :D]

Yeah, I'm trying to wait for the new ones, too, but it seems like I just keep waiting forever.

What I don't get is why the larger S7021 is actually thinner than the 6040 and not much different in size.

At the same time, they have the specs getting better battery on the 7021. I don't understand why the 6200 series seems to be more popular than the 7000 line with such a small difference in footprint.

Any ideas out there of the basic differences?

    Thanks,

    V
