ok, I'm getting close to purchasing my Fujitsu (just waiting to see if the new refreshes are woth it for me.)

I'm leaning towards the s6231, however, the compact and extra long battery power of the p7010D intrigues me greatly. So I have a few questions to ask.

How compact is the keyboard? Is there flex (quite frankly as one who has never owned a laptop, I'm not sure if I would even know if there was)?

My intent for my laptop is powerpoint presentations, anything to do with MS Office programs, photoshop. There will probably be lots of word processing. Will the small size pose a problem to that? Or processor?

Is it ok for watching movies (avi, dvd, mpeg, whatever format)?

How long does the battery actually last with real use (not the fujitsu estimate)?

There is no lid clasp, will that pose a problem? Will I have to worry about the LCD getting scratched (by the keyboard or anything else)?

Is this model going to get refreshed?

Is RAM for this model really that expensive? I'd like 1GB but that's a $150 difference from 768.

That's all I have to ask for now. I've been asking lots of questions and I thank you all for answering. Hopefully, I won't be too much of a bother once I get my notebook.

    thanks.

edit: Also, how hot and noisy does this model get? I'd like it to be as cool and quiet as possible.

Like I said, I'm still leaning towards the s6231 (price is a big factor also) but I like to keep my options open,

    thanks.

    1) Little to no flex, aside from being smaller and not having dedicated keys for things like end and home, it's very good.
    2) No and no
    3) Fantastic for movies, CV widescreen is perfect
    4) I have dual batteries and go 5-6 hours usually. That's full bore though, display on full and wireless on and active.
    5) You should get a microfiber cloth to protect the screen, the hinge is tight and secure
    6) Yes, it's getting a ULV 1.2 PM soon.
    7) 768 will be fine.
    8) It's very quiet, even the fan is soft. It will get warm, but not hot. Fujitsu has the suede on the bottom of the RAM compartment too.
    9) You didn't ask, but I'd get the 7200 RPM drive.

Does a 1.1 to 1.2 change actually mean something significant in performance for a ULV?

It does in this case, as the L2 cache gets a bump as well since it's going from the very old Banias core to the newer Dothan one. Should be an improvement of 10% or better. That's just a rough guess though.

bought the p7010, wanted the p7010D but its not in stock anymore, even this p7010, is one of the last one from fujitsu that has a built in dvd writer.

bought it from portableone, great service, actually met Ivan today, cause fedex has messed up the shipment, instead of shipping it to portableone for hdd & ram upgrade, it was sent directly to me.

overall great service from portableone, highly recommended :)

will the upgrade to the ULV 1.2 have a change in FSB to 533? I looked at the website specs and it says the current model is already 2MB L2. I think it was posted elsewhere here also.

Is there any place where I can see lots of pictures of this notebook? I CNET is not one for pictures.

For basic processes (word, excel, office, photoshop) and multitasking will I see a lag compared to say a dothan 1.6?

    Thanks again.

No, the FSB will remain 400 MHz. As for speed, it's great for office tasks, you don't need to worry about that. For pictures, take a look at my first thought comparison with the P5020.
