Hello there.
I currently own a FS c1020 laptop and since my DVD CDRW has lost its cd reading/writing capabilities I bought a replacement, however I'm currently facing problems in the actual process (ie I unscrewed all the visible screws but cannot take the upper part off). Any ideas on what to do and how to it?
Regards,
John

Consult the manual online, it gives instructions on the proper screns to remove everything.

I did that before coming here [

However I couldn't see anything relevant.
Any other suggestions? -
Did you take the battery out? There are screws under there most likely.

yes i did and I also removed the hdd.
Does anyone have in mind if there is a sketch-drawing anywhere on the net on where all screws are located?
Has anyone replaced the dvd-rom in this model in the past by himself?

where can I find this manual ?

i had simular problem as i wanted to remove my dvd-r writer 6x and replace with a 8x my system is also fujitsu but model amilo xa1526.
most laptop are modular where you remove three screws to release the drive but fujis are more picky and dont.
i contacted fuji tech about mine being removed and he told me not to do it as it was too overly complicatedas it involved removing all screws on the base and removing keyboard to gane access to more screws and he said it would be better to take it to a fuji work/repair shop but bear in mind that it wipes out you warranty tho you probably know that
.
i never changed it in the end as all reviews i seen said 8x writer on laptop take about 13min and mine takes 13-14 tho its 6x ...weird im too used to my desktop writer at 8x or 16x taking 6-7 and 4-5mins respectively.
replace a dvd drive on c1020
