In all the pictures I've seen, the fujitsu s2110 and s4260 look the same and have that black kind of greasy plastic look. Then I see the s6231 which they don't sell anymore and it looks a lot better. As I cannot get the s6231 anymore, is it just bad imaging or do the two fujitsus actually look like they have the dell greasy black plastic frame? Can someone tell me its NOT suppose to be this ugly?

Did you look at our review pictures? I don't think they look greasy.

The S2110 casing was fingerprint prone, if that's what you mean. But I thought it looked nice.

Yeah, do both the s2110 and s2640 only come in black from P1? Is ther anyway to get other types of casing?

by the way you are comparing S2110 and S6240 right ? I don't remember there is a S2640 for fujitsu. Sorry but I think is best to clear up with you.

Anyway there is 2 colour for S6240 the normal grey silver or the North black .. North black model comes with a super fine ( crystal view ) screen. While Silver comes with a matt screen ( anti glare ).

    S2110 only have north black.

Ahh sorry I am getting my numbers mixed up. I am now considering the s7020 also. How much of a screen size drop will I experience going from one 14.1 to 13.3? I was rather concerned that 13.3 with XGA would be too small for me as a 15" with XGA is kind of big and I guess 14" would probably be my right size. (I got bad eyes, shhhh) I have a problem in that I need a new laptop but I can't actually go to a brick and mortar store because there aren't any around here and no one is willing to drive me, so I sort of have to guess which resolution and screen size will suit me best.

The last two laptops I've owned I had to run both at non-native resolutions which sucked. The last one was a 15.4 widescreen, but I wanted something smaller so that it would be more portable and I didn't like the large palm rests. I am one of those people who like to put their palms on the actual table and try to reach with the fingers for the keys, so my fingers curl over the front of the laptop. So far I would much prefer the look of the s7020 as opposed to the north black look. Other than size, the weight between the s7020 and s6240/s2110 are sort of inconsequential, one being 4.3lbs and the other 4lbs right? Man so hard to decide...the s7020 is $200 more also...which screen is better looking??? Which is quieter?

Edit: Ok sorry for the confusing post. I've read a bit more (or reread from what I forgot yesterday night, btw, HAPPY NEW YEARS!) and have come up with a few specific questions.

    1. I've read that the s7020 has overheating and fan noise issues. Is that still true? The s2110 is whisper quiet supposedly.
    2. The s7020 has bad light leakage and screen problems. How does the 14.1" compare to the 13.3" on the s2110?
    3. I've read people saying how the s7020 flexes and is unreliable as far as stuff breaking down goes. Shouldn't both be similar in those respects?

1.As for 7020, I have no idea about it because I did not try it out but I believe this problem is solve or it will be noisy when it is at full usage of the CPU. My S6240 is still pretty quiet at most time.

2.I think is best you go down to any shops take a look and compare the screens if you can. So far for S6240 the screen is beautiful, is alot brighter than sony 580 when I compared with my friend's unit.

3.Since I own a S6240 let me tell you as long as you take care of it, it will not breakdown that easy.

if 14" is the right size for you then is ok. I am fine with 13.3" lolz my friend is using a 15".

I saw your posting in the Sony section regarding the 580. Well is a good model to consider because it has a better graphic card (for gamers matter) and faster clock speed ( which is no use in most case ).

Air ven I look at all models Fujitsu is better at this latter. design depends you like wide screen or not ( I find it horrible but this is to me only ).

If you want get the S2110
    and why
is a 64 bit processor, can use the new OS (vista) when Microsoft release it within this year. all intel model so far cannot support because still using the 32 bit.

    Just some input only.

Thanks everyone. I am going to go for it then. The s2110 sounds like it hits the spot, although I may have to compromise aesthetics a bit, which is rather subjective and may actually be just an ugly duckling.

I love the look my new S2110. Pictures just don't do it justice. Yes, it is very fingerprint prone, especially the cover. I just take an ever so slightly **** cloth over them every few days. Not a big deal. If you want some more pics, you can check out my little review I did. http://frostyle.servehttp.com/fujitsu/review.html
