I am in the neighborhood for a s2110. How does the xpress 200m perform in general? Will it be able to play prince of persia and non-shooter (aka half life 2,doom 3) games decently? What is the amount of dedicated ram on the s2110 as opposed to shared?

It's the second worst card on the market. For gaming, it's not a good option at all. Doom 3 might load, but won't run.

If you want a gaming machine (for your games listed) the ATi Express will definately NOT cut it. Regardless of how much RAM you and hard drive speed you have. It won't play those games decently, if it plays them at all and there is 0 (zero) mb of dedicated video RAM in the s2110. It supports up to 128mb of shared RAM (meaning it takes up to 128mb max from the system ram and allocates it to the graphics).

Note, the ATi Express 200m works differently then a similarily performing shared graphics unit as the user must select how much video ram to allocate to the graphics manually (as appose to the machine automatically adjusting to the task at hand).

By the way, how is that video card on the S2110 in terms normal office suite or light photo veiweing/editing. Is it equally as bad as performance in gaming?

No. It will be fine for normal office suite and light photo viewing/editing.

I don't think the graphics chip even matters for office and photo type stuff. For non-graphics intensive games, I don't see how the xpress 200m can be that bad.

it should run some games well. i have played Final Fantasy XI (Hi-res), Dragonshard, and Sims 2

but if you are spoiled by higherpriced cards on desktops with FPS games in mind, you might get disappionted

I've run Civ 4 and AOE3 at medium settings pretty smoothly. That is probably about the top of what it can handle. Just make sure you have enough RAM to run the games and your graphics.
