Hi All, bought a S6120 off eBay this week, and also bought a port replicator. Plan is to have it installed in the car for GPS/MP3 etc. The port replicator was so I could easily install and remove it in the car without messing with loads of cables. I have a 7" touchscreen monitor for it.

Now, having got the port replicator, I notice it doesn't have a power button. So, I have to open the screen to power it up. I then can't close it because that shuts it down again!

I thought the whole point of port replicators that you could plug in external screen/keyboard/mouse etc and use the laptop, without having to have that open too. Tell me I'm not wrong, and I'm missing something really obvious. Clearly I can't have the laptop "open" in the car!!

    Cheers, Sy

try this, go to power options under control panel, click on advanced tab. under power buttons "when i close the lid of my portable computer:" set to do nothing on dropdown menu. you will have to open the computer to turn it on though unless there is an option in the bios to do a wake on external device or something like that. hope this helps.

Yup, that's the ticket. Exactly what I would recommend.
