what kind of battery life are you getting out of this machine, and because of the integrated video card if you are doing video encoding does it use up more battery then a normal notebook with it's own graphics card?

video encoding has nothing to do with a video card on any system it's all cpu power. Most encoders run the system 100% so you should expect max power drain on the battery on any system.

The only place you need battery life is on an airplane and even then many now have power plugs under the seats. If you don't plug in whenever you have the oppurtunity most mobile processors won't be operating in "full power" mode and you will sacrifice some performance and if you constantly discharge and recharge your battery you'll wind up having to replace it in less than one year.
